Hello All,

I've played CIV4 on an older system with no problems, but I've now upgraded to a fancy new system with all the bells and whistles. And wouldn't you know I have a problem! As soon as the opening 2K GAMES animation starts up, a horizontal green line appears on-screen, extending clear across the middle of my screen, vibrating slightly. It's a real nuisance, though once gameplay starts it soon moves to the bottom of the screen, which is a small relief (though it now cuts across the game interface).

I'm not terribly technically-adept: is there some monitor or video setting I should adjust to get rid of this thing? Any help is welcome. Here are my specs:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp.050622-1524)
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.46GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Hard Drive: 213857 MB Space Available, 238362 MB Space On Drive
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX
Monitor: Dell Plug and Play Monitor
Display Info: 1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Pointing Device: Logitech G5 gaming Mouse
Sound Card: SB X-Fi Audio [BCE0]

My screen resolution is currently 1280x1024. I've tried re-installing the game (with 1.61 patch), but the line still persists. Any remedies?

I seem to remember a thread about this problem and it is something to do with the SLI. I think there is a setting somewhere to switch it off and the line goes away. Sorry I can't help more than that. Is it a SLI card?

Yep, that's it Auldian. I'm usually a mine of mostly useless information, sometimes I come with something useful. ;) Hope it fixes it Goliard.

Yep, that worked like a charm. Thanks, Zanmato and to everyone else. Another internet success story! Free spaceship components for everyone!:king:

Yeah...that fixed the problem. I wonder why the load balancing option is a problem for Civ IV and not for other 3D games. Oh well...I'm just glad that I can now play withut changing my graphics settings every time.
