I always play with the grid on (and why doesn't the game save that and the zoom level I'm using at the time ?) so on loading my first action is to toggle the grid on. About once in three times I do this, the screen goes black after the usual 10-second wait for response, then after another wait a message comes up "... Civ4 has encountered a problem and needs to close": there being no other choice, I accept this and try again. My current game is, I know well, bashing the limits of my aging system (Athlon 2200, only 512 RAM, FX5600 256MB video - large continents map, low graphics settings): is this the cause ?
