I just noticed a really strange problem with my IE and FireFox. I had a site that was acting funky in FireFox, so I went to open it in IE. So, all is normal so far, IE starts up, I enter the url and hit 'Enter'. Suddenly, my window refocuses to FireFox which is trying to open that site in a new tab. So, I think, I hit some shortcut and bam. Tried it again, and the same result. I closed FF and tried again, it just started it back up.

tldr: my IE is calling on FireFox to display its pages. Who would have thought it?

IE is version 6, all the latest updates. FireFox is FF3b5 not running any extensions besides noscript.

I have a feeling the default browser thing messed something up somewhere, so ill fiddle with that. Meanwhile, has anyone even heard of a problem like this?

some sort of adware or malware is trying to open pages you don't want to open and it's calling FF the default browser, so it's using that. You need adblock and noscript extensions for FF to prevent that from happening, or you could end up with your system being locked up trying to load 100 pages you have no interest in.

Its not opening pages I dont want. Its opening the pages I do want open in IE, in FireFox. Like, I type in www.google.com in IE, hit Enter and a new tab pops up in FF with google
