This could be in the wrong place but I don't know where else to put in so well...

Well the problem is just after I modded the Civ 3 code slightly, I received this message

CIVILIZATION3 caused an invalid page fault in
module CIVILIZATION3.EXE at 017f:0040309c.

It says that its got a stack dump or something. Can someone help me out with this problem?

Sure.

:D

What you mean by "I modded the Civ 3 code slightly"? Did you just use the editor or did you HEX edit it?

Well no I did not hex edit it at all. Dunno why it can't work. :(

Weird...

Oh HK eh, same time zone. ;-) Going to HK next month actually and I'll live in the Singapore embassy in HK! ;-)

I had this problem a ways back when making scenarios mods. I changed a few things with some units that may have conflicted somewhere and got the same error as you noted. I can't remember what I did, but when I un-did it I was fine.
I would go back to the original settings (reinstall if you have to) and make a save of it under a different name. Mod that all you want, but track your changes so that you can undo them if you break the game again.

This is another problem with the game. You mod it, particularly renaming units, and it eventually crashes. It has to do with what is in the Art/Units folders for each unit. There must be the initialization file, plus artwork and sounds. Exactly how this works I don't know, but Firaxis for all its many faults usually responds when you report this as a bug and humbly ask for their assistance. Go to: http://www.firaxis.com/contact_gamefeedback.cfm

and submit it as a bug.

I have just gotten this error as well. Not sure what is up. I have added a couple of new units lately, but that isn't when the error comes up. It seems to happen when I took over a city and it also happened when I tried to skip the city and attack elsewhere. It would run through and then just came up with the error. I am sure that the unit is named the same (APC). The only other thing that I can think is that I have it set to "Only carry foot soldiers". I will have to check this when I head home for lunch.

Zouave was right. I went back to make sure that I named everything correctly. Whoops, I didn't. The Armored Personnel Carrier unit had the folder named APC. So I renamed the unit to APC like the folder. I would definitely look for this if I was you. Probably a tiny misspelling somewhere between the folder/ini file in the folder and the name of the unit. I guess we are assuming that you added a unit/wonder or something else. I should have known better and what it was but it had been so long since I have seen the error I forgot what error came up when this problem arises.
