Has there ever been a real live Civ convention?

Like a score of people (severely sad civaddicts) turning up at a college or hotel for a week with lap tops; wiring them together, ordering pizza and beer and then multiplaying non stop round tables where you can eyeball your opponent when negotiating?

Think of the variants?

Knockout Diplo Non Diplo Small Large
Pairs Wet Warm GW no GW
Leagues 1x1 2x2 King Emp Deity

and for the truly perverse:

Suicide Civ; you start with fully defended cities in a scenario and aim to be the first to get wiped out by AIs (or for the advanced) by barbies in an AI free game.

Strip Civ: you lose an item of clothing for each city (think I'll invade Egypt, Cleo?;)

Civ Civ: No War Allowed

Unciv Civ: No Peace Allowed

Why not? I don´t have a lap top though. :)

You don't want one :(

My reason fo this is that I am firced to use one because my proper computer hasnt been shipped up from NSW (Another state of Australia, I hhave moved to Qld) and using this laptop, I keep bumping the little sensor mouse while I am typing and parts of words appear in the middle of other words..

eg: Hello, my name is resville Qldn, I live in Town

(I have bolded the stuff up)

Sounds painful, Ren. I hope you get your real computer soon. :)

:cringe:

Are you sure you want a bunch of these (us) people in a confined space for a great length of time. I mean, think of the smell (them)!!!! It would be unbearable. Of course there would be the  and the [party] and don't forget the :whipped: that is if your into that...

It's not so much the smell as the BURNING IN THE EYE'S!!!!!!!

I was going to post something like this in a couple of months. I'm going to be attending Balticon, a science fiction convention held in Baltimore over Memorial Day weekend. I imagined that some Civ players would be interested in science fiction and that scene as well. I wouldn't want to spend time playing Civ at the con, but a lunch or dinner get-together to hang out and discuss Civ, history, the state of the world, or whatever, would probably be fun.

We've got a while to go before Memorial Day, so I'll re-post this in a few weeks.

If you don't know when Memorial Day is or how to get to Baltimore, then you probably are too far away to make it to that con. But feel free to have a gathering of your own somewhere else.
