I like Industrial Revolution because its then when my game starts to get interesting: I'm getting fascism for my workers to build railroads more quickly, steam power for my railroads, motorized transportation and finally flight. I love this combo of tank and bomber beeing moved over railroads for fast attacks on my neighbour. My companions have not always railroads and this makes the game slightly more easy to conquer.

I voted for ancient but in reality my favourite time is late ancient/early middle ages. the early expansion is almost over but things haven't yet settled down. you have to balance expansion/defence and launching attacks. finally you have decent units (horsemen/knights, swordsmen/med inf) and you can really make inroads on your enemies. manage to deny them iron and/or gunpowder and you are well on your way to global dominance. ;)
on anything lower than monarch, i generally have an unbeatable lead by the end of the middle ages (with only 2 or 3 rivals left). on the higher levels i enjoy the industrial ages and the desparate scramble to catch up to the AI but the sheer number of units and the size of my empire generally mean that turns drag on for upwards of 10mins each. if i haven't finished by dom or conquest by the end of industrial i still find the modern ages largely irrevelant: research the UN first-up and cruise to victory. the modern ages sound like fun but by that stage of the game i'm usually sick of it and just want to finish! :D

my ranking

1- industrial
2 - middle
3 - ancient
4 - modern (a distant last)

wow, i thought more people would like the modern age more, ui never put my rankings:
1-Modern Age
2-Ancient Age(i often play my ancient age only mod)
3-Industrial Age(Tanks begin to make wars easier)
4-Middle Ages(i dont really dislike it, its just kindov like a kill this guy, whack the weaklings kindov stage or me)

Golden Age :))
Definitly Ancient Age,the best age,I like that units, wonders,it's good for rushing

Middle Ages for me! Nothing like a few units not too fast and the power of the Knights vs the spearman (if I'm able to destroy their iron sources).

I hate modern ages... too many units, too much bombers and artillery (too annoying to play) and too much workers (option between micromanagement and bad management).

Industrial - After all the games I've played over the last few years, I still chuckle when the Rifleman sneezes.

I love the high shields/interesting diplomacy of the Industrial Age, but I like the Middle Ages, too. I suppose I like the Middle Ages better.

There are 2 excitng periods: from the expansion period until the eary middle ages it is exciting and critical. The game usually goes into a lull in the middle/late miuddle ages. Then from the early industrial ages the game gains momentum again. I voted industrial

Industrial Age. That is where my war-mongering really kicks in. Artillery, Infantry, Tanks, Bombers...:hammer:

Ancient Age: I like the exploring, finding luxuries, neighbors to eventually kill.

Middle Ages- expansion phase is pretty much done and the most influential wars begin to happen.

Late Industrial and Modern, because I like to play Massive Maps with loads of enemies and start World Wars and stuff. Then the World usually gangs up on me, but I'm able to just hold them off with my Panzers, then they slow down in Tech, I get Modern Armor, and they all die. Hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!
