What civ is best for warmonging?

Iroquois, Celts, or Persia are all strong ancient age warmongers. China, Ottomans, and Arabia are all good medieval age... It depends on your play style, when you plan to go and beat people down, how big the map is, whether you will need boats... etc.

Give more information and maybe a better answer will come to you.

You can't go wrong with the French. I have used them on every level. The only setting I would prefer someother is a Pan map at Sid. You just probably need an AA GA in that game.

If you mean literally AW, then they are not as good above Emperor, again you need an early GA on pan maps at DG or better. Lower or just going to go to war after you get set up they are great.

Really great at lower levels like AWM as you can avoid a GA, till you want it. You do not need Nationalism as you have the Musketeer and can wait for infantry.

You get the commerce for the extra gold to pay for units and you get Alpha to get the GLB. Industry to allow for fewer workers in the ealry game.

I've also always liked the French for almost all victory types for the reasons vmxa outlined. Alphabet gives you a headstart on the Republic Slingshot. If you get Ivory nearby Ancient Cavalry make a very nice ancient age UU without triggering an early GA. And commerical gives you more core and semi-core cities.

Only downside is the hideous bald Joan in the modern age. Maybe you can win before then.

China. They are the only civ that is both militaristic and has a really good UU (Rider). On top of that there is a good second trait, industrious.

Next in line would be the Iroquois. Agri speaks for itself, a great trait overall. UU (Mounted Warrior) really good too. And an OK second trait (commercial).

I like the Celts. The Gallic Sword unit (3-2-2) is excellent for warmongering, and will help with "pointy stick" expansion if you can't have a peaceful REX. Of course, it is good if you actually want a warlike REX as well. The GA might come a little early for most players, but it usually works for me.

The Inca. They do have the fastest finishes.

I'd add the Ottomans. Siphai are FUN

Germany is good if you want some industrial warfare.

I think in the ancient era the Iroquois are the best. There UU for horsemen is very good for early conquests.
