Hi

I looked up the stonehedge in the civlopedia and i see at the top it says 80:hammers: . what does this mean? does it mean that my city needs 80 production or more to build it? because i can still build a stonehedge even though my city has 6 production hammers. so i dont understand what is meant by hammers. also how can you improve the number of hammers in a city?

Thanks

I may be misunderstanding you, but 80 hammers means one city needs to build up over time 80 hammers to produce that building. So if your city is producing 6 hammers per turn, it would ordinarily take 14 turns to build.

You can increase the number of hammers by improving the land eg mining hills, getting a pasture on a horse resource. You can chop woods to get a one off extra number of hammers. Certain building increase the hammers eg a forge.

This kind of stuff is dealt with in the manual, for more advanced tactics, this site will do you fine!

Oh, and its Stonehenge, not a stone hedge :)

lol yes my mistake stonehenge, so ur saying if i have 80 production in my city i will be able to build it in 1 turn? and also as you said above "You can chop woods to get a one off extra number of hammers", i dont quite understand that, when i cut trees a message comes up saying " clearing forest has given osaka 20 hammers. im confused!!! someone please help. and how do you know what things will give production?

This means that, when you clear a forrest tile, a certain ammound of hammers is added to the progress that a nearby city has made in its current building project.

In the case of the quote you provided, Osaka has had 20 hammers of work done for it at the moment the forrest is cleared.

Hammers are productivity. Stonehenge needs 80 hammers to be completed. You make 6 hammers a turn, so it will be complete in 14 turns. You get more hammers by improving terraint(building mines) or by creating buildings that improve productivity. There are many other ways, but those are the basics.
