What do the little icons in the icons.gif file do?

When going into the file icons.gif, I am always intrigued to find two little icons. A bomb and a pickaxe.

What are they for? I have never seen them appear in one of my games, I have CIV2MGE. When I had CIV2 Original, they STILL didn't show. What are they? Could someone please help me here?

Not all graphics are you used. They might have been used during the design stages of Civ2 (perhaps for, say, a city during wonder construction, a city after a nuclear meltdown, or a "very unhappy" city with black citizens) but were removed in the end.

Thanks Mercator!

You have a good point there, I was just hoping they could be used. :(

They'd be useful for telling you that a city is constructing a wonder, because when you put cities on auto-build, they will go onto a wonder when they've finished their list.

Also maybe when they are actually on autobuild.
Thanks though!

I would like to have a sign on the cities to show whether it's celebrating or not. You can then easily see which cities are not and check them to see what they need. I know you get a message when they start and stop, but it should be showing somewhere. I know it does in Civ3

They can be, but only if you edit the file and replace another icon with them... If nothing else, it might be cool to see a new icon when a city falls into disorder. Try a red fist on a yellow background, very striking!

I AGREE!:goodjob:

Well there's another way to see it. It is probably known, but I didn't know about it. All cities celebrating have their name printed in white and all not-celebrating-cities are printed in grey in the domestic advisor screen. I wondered why some were lighter than others and realised that these were the ones celebrating:)

I didn't know that!! I just checked it out and your absolutely right. Never noticed that before. very handy, nice to know piece of information.

I didn’t know that it was an unknown feature.
