Anyone miss some features of CIV 2? I have included a few in the poll I'd like to see make a comeback, if you have others, please include in post.

I checked ALL the boxes. I miss all those features from Civ2, but I think that Civ3 is still really good, and i have learned to enjoy the game without them.

What I miss most of all, though, is the diplomacy system from SMAC.

I jumped straight from CIV I to CIV III, but a friend of mine is still playing CIV II, even though he's got CIV III, and he loves playing the WWII scenarios that are built in.

Oh yes, maybe this comes under "cheat mode" but when Civ3 came out, I really missed the ability to select a civilization's starting location. I think this may have been fixed in later Civ3 patches, but unfortunately I've not had the time or inclination to play around with the Civ3 editor to check this.

Multiplayer, and I voted spies, although I think the spies in Civ2 were a bit too powerful

Well... in civ2 the AI uses cruise missiles devastatingly effective... I'm not sure I miss that at all but I don't think I've seen civ3 AI uses it like it was used in civ2

I miss civ 2 cruise missile, indeed a.i. used them pretty well and you had to protect your fleet with aegis cruiser.

I was able to make submarine bridge and thus keep supply my front line with cruise missile, 8 CM per sub was great.

i miss farmland. it looked alot better than railraods all over the freakin place. plus it added some depth to the game.

I voted Cruisers, but I guess what really miss are destroyers that hunt subs - the present Civ III Destroyers are functionally pretty much cruisers.

Something I really miss is the Stock Exchange. I think it did a good job of representing the increased commercial activity available to taxation in modern times, and left you with one more thing to build in your "perfect" cities. Now you only get two levels of financial improvements.

I voted caravan/freight, although I think the current Civ3 trade system has its advantages. At least caravans made trade vulnerable.

I think what I miss most are some of the diplomatic options from Civ2. Like bribing someone else to attack your enemy, without necessarily starting a war of your own. Or giving units to a friend.

The Civ2 Space Race...

The Civ2 events editor...

I have it on good authority that the Stock Exchange will return.

I miss the stock exchange, statue of liberty, and that little message that the ai has just rushed the statue of liberty 15 times in one turn only for me to complete it and get the message: the ai has abandoned their great project :D

I miss battleships in one-tile ponds.

Ah yes, the USS New Jersey sitting in the Great Salt Lake, very useful against the barbarian survivalists who occasionally arise in the Rocky Mountains...

ahh..
the city that's on top of a mountain and next to a 1 tile pond with a battleship or 2 fortified inside it.

I must be the only person i the world, but I miss the movies for the wonders. Oh, yeah and why cna't Ifly my fighterplanes anymore? And Artillery can not conquer cities? Tell that to the Germans. Helicopters are essentially useless anymore.
