I am sure similar posts have been mad regarding crashing games but I'm putting this out here in the chance that someone will throw me a life line.

For example, I was recently playing a huge world map (after installing the v1.61 update which claimed to fix memory leaks which I figured caused the crashes) of earth with 18 other nations. A few hours into the game (middle ages time) the game crashed as I figured it usually would and the patch, although providing neat new game options, proved to do nothing to stop crashes . When the 'report error to microsoft' window came up I asked for details and saved the following from the screenshot. I have a decent PC. Great new graphics card and everything. It is just huge maps and late-game large maps that tend to run the risk of crashing for me.

I continue to live each moment in fear of a crash and I find my self saving every constantly. This is now way for a gamer to live. ;) I would be humbled by anyone who would take the time to tackle my situation.

Update:

I have discovered that the crash occurs every time the game turn changes to (1730 AD). Might this be a critical point where the memory overloads? Task Manager read "505,392K" on the turn before hand and a CPU of "02". Is there a correlation and ultimately, a way to correct this problem? Is there a memory leak that still needs to be fixed?

Please help!

Please save the game on turn before crash and post the save. I can try to load your save and see if I crash as well or not. BTW, try to "click here" to view technical information about the error. Anything interesting there?

BTW, maybe your computer is just not up to the task of playing huge maps...

I posted a screenshot exerpt of what was shown of the error's details. That's all I could copy.

As for testing my game, that would be wonderful of you.

The following is a url to the Blue Marble Terrain Mod version (has a unique mix of units and graphics I added to it) that ran the specific saved game. I think you'll need it.

Here is a link to the saved game file itself.

Edit: I would have expected my PC to be up to running a huge map.
Stats: 1.80 Ghz. 1Gig of RAM. AMD Athlon 64 Processor +2800 and a brand new Radeon 9600Pro graphics card.

Bummer, cannot load it, "The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed." I'm out of ideas.

memory leaks can be solved simply by restarting the game.

if restarting the game doesnt work it may be another problem. ill try out your save right now

something happened to my game unfortunately and apparently my computer cannot find the saves files for me to put it in so ill have to reinstall the game now ill test it out once i can fix my game.

are you using version 2.0 of blue marble because i have it loaded and i cant seem to play your save it keeps telling me i have to have blue marble loaded.

Yes, I used version 2.0 but I think since I added some unit graphics mods and civ team flags to it that the game will only identify with the specific mod (my Blue Marble version with some added things) that I posted a linked to.

I can't explain why it is that if you install that mod, my save won't load with it. Just another frustrating aspect of this matter I suppose.

I applaud both your efforts regardless and continue to hope for the best as you plug away at it.
