I am having so much trouble with this!
I got rid of the black terrain, and I installed the patch, but now my game crashes just a minute or two after I start playing. I actually get a blue screen and my computer shuts down.
I had tried unpacking the Art Pack file, but I noticed that the Art0FPK file wasn't where it was supposed to be.
I followed the instructions off the Civ support site for "My init log fails at Engine Init ... ". One thing I noticed is that when I went to install the game, it didn't do the Direct X install part. (I had already installed it in an earlier part of the procedure.) Another thing that happened was that while it was installing, an error came up that said that the Art0FPK file didn't match...another source (can't remember) or something. I hit retry and the installation continued.
After I finished installing the game, I looked to see if Art0FPK was there. It was. I finished following the instructions and then I installed the Patch. I tried to start the game, but after a moment it crashed to a blue screen again. I looked for the Art0FPK file and it's gone now! What happened to it? Did the Patch do something to it when it updated?
I was thinking that memory was a problem (I only have 380 RAM and it stays low for some reason.) But when I noticed the missing file I decided to try installing again. Also, I only have a Radeon 7500 and I've messed around with the driver, installing them. Right now I have Catalyst 5.11. (I don't see where that 4.12 one is.)
So could you help? Maybe? I really want to play!!
