Ч - not sure, I thought it is read "ch", but read my post above

"ch" is correct. For some reason, the sound changed to a "j" on the way to Europe.

Edit: Or, perhaps, the sound was more like 'j' seven centuries ago. Like all languages, Mongolian has changed a bit since Temüjin's day.
