Hello everyone, this will be a discussion thread for what to build in Olympus if some AI civ gets the MoM first. Sorry for not posting this before, but I didn't notice this could happen :(.

For discussions sake, here is a screenshot of Olympus:

A few comments:

1. The only other two Wonders currently available to Olympus are the Pyramids and the Temple of Artemis. France is the only rival that we know of building the Pyramids (started sometime between 1050 BC and 775 BC), though we don't have any info on the nations we haven't met.

2. No one that we know of is building the Mausoleum of Mausollos, and two of our three unmet rivals have recently completed other wonders in 950 BC --- London the Colossus and Japan the Oracle.

3. Important question: Look at the happiness of Olympus right now. It currently has one more happy citizen than usual because of the recent war with Persia. Does anyone have any idea how long this dynamic will last? If it is more than 8 turns, we can join another worker to our capital and still maintain control of the city. Then we use that laborer on a third roaded forest tile to cut two turns off of the Mausoleum build. Though working this forest will give us a food deficit, we have enough food in reserve to endure the loss during that time.

DZ, we must stay at war with Persia, and I count with YOU to do that. Be it a cold war or a real war, we must fight the persians directly or indirectly until the MoM is built. Then, peace treaty and REVOLUTION. Term II will end with Fanatikos as a Republic.

About that worker, ok. Brilliant idea, let's join the worker to the city and make it work the forest tile. You can do it in the next turnchat, and I will give orders to relocate the new laborer to the forest tile. BUT, Fanatikos may need all the workers it has. I count with your permission and the consent of the people to make this pioneer a citizen of the glorious Olympus :).

Thanks,

In honor of the Great General Chieftess, I think we should build a swordsman for the defense of our nation, as we are now in war with Persia. This is a demogame tradition, to
mobilize for war if the wonder is not needed.

 Does this have anything to do with a Lighthouse perhaps? Priceless!

Mr. Provolution, we cannot waste such a huge shield quantity with a swordsman. We must think about an improvement or another wonder.

Civlord, I think cognitive activity such as thinking is overrated. What about other human activities such as passion, enthusiasm, thrill for adventure, envy and so on should come in the limelight. Why this numbercrunching, what about the roleplay aspects here?

Technically, that is indeed a shield waste, and I would actually consider another option given some time. civlord, take it easy, if the poll for the mausoleum, or another wonder is made, most players tend to follow the ministers or governors instructions.
For example, I saw the workers outside Priapos do the wrong thing, did I complain, naaah, I have such a blind faith in authorities.

Hurry up then, make a prebuild poll.

Until we sign peace or get some war weariness (meaning enough to eliminate war happiness). I suspect the former will occur first.

Olympus could grow in two turns without the loss of a worker.

You wrote to me once, listing the four chief virtues. Wisdom, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance. As I read the list I knew I had none of them. But i have other virtues, father. Ambition, that can be a virtue when it drives us to excel. Resourcefulness. Courage. Perhaps not on the battlefield but there are many forms of courage. Devotion, to my family, to you. But none of my virtues were on your list. Even then, it was as if you didn't want me for your son.

Hehe Nobody, thanks for aCOMMODating US with your statements.
When in Rome, do as Romans do and there are many ways to Rome...
Memento Mori, those who will die, salute you !

Salutare imperatorem Romae! "Chancelloris" omnii mundi!

Well, that's my Latin.

Neither the Pyramids nor the Temple of Artemis are very useful for a 5BCC. Perhaps Olympus would be able to switch to ToA as a prebuild for the Hanging Gardens. I do suspect that Olympus will build MoM, though.

The Hanging Gardens may be a great idea, but this thread was made just in case... Nobody knows.

Hmmm... I'm sure he does know. The Pyramids is a good bet, free growth is what it is.

The Pyramids is not so useful when we only have 5 cities, cities that will grow if we let them and increased the lux. The Hanging Gardens would help with our Happiness situation across our whole empire, better than the MOM in that respect which only helps one city. We'd need to use one of the other Wonders and a prebuild until we got Monarchy from the GL. The other Wonders will take longer to build so we can switch to them, complete the game session without stopping it short and still have time to make the final decision as to what we build.
