What is "advance multiple"?

Hi folks,

I've searched the boards here and can't seem to find the answer. Didn't see it in the PDF manuals either. In C3C, under Game Limits, what is the setting mean for "Advance Multiple"? Is this some type of setting that further increases the rate in which research is conducted? Does it skip technologies somehow?

I was hoping it might have been some type of setting to allow me to start at a later age, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

Any help is appreciated...

It's a setting for if Victory points are turned on. If they are, each time you discover a tech, you get a number of victory points proportional to the cost of the technology multiplied by the advance multiple. Same for city, wonder, unit kill, capture and location multiples.
