Normal workers can upgrade to Dog Worker, then you can upgrade it to Buffalo Worker or Work Mule or Elephant Worker or Llama Worker or Camel Worker or Mammoth worker, they then upgrade to Industrial Worker.

Are all those specialized for certain terrains?
Work rate is of those animal workers is just slightly bigger than of Dog Worker.

By the way I'll check if they all can do same actions.
Dog Worker will act as base - Normal Worker can build things that gets obsolete by Plough tech.

the Llama one gets Mountaineering which would allow you to get Early access to Mountains to work those,
Believe the rest are just Terrain specialization? you'd pick the one most suitable to the terrain you live in? atleast that's what my observations made me conclude, don't believe Work Rate is shown?

Work rate is shown.

Sadly I don't have access to llamas - they are in Americas

Following workers can build improvements, that dog worker can't:
Work Mule, Llama Worker, Mammoth Worker - Stone Tools Workshop,

Following workers can't build improvements, that dog worker can:
Camel Worker - Tar Gatherer

Work Mule and Llama Worker have Mountaineer, that would explain their ability to build Stone Tools Workshop.

I'll upgrade all my workers to Work Mule as that is most useful worker.
On Kation's map some resources are on mountain.

So looks like I'll add Tar Gatherer to Camel worker and remove Stone Tools Workshop from Mammoth worker.

I reenabled longitude limitations as Earth spans whole map horizontally.

Work mules have Mountaineering too.

Edit:
Fixed all animal worker inconsistencies.

Yes, Work mules have Mountaineering, but llamas are still more useful. If the peak is occupied (usually by a bird), you have a problem, because the Pack Mule is defense only, but the Llama Archer can attack, so these peaks can be "put to use".

Just saying - if you have the choice, go for the llamas. Otherwise, the best you can hope for is either a Great General with a Mountain Leader promotion, or lots and lots of archers clearing the peak the hard way. Or you actually get a national unit with mountaineering.
