My favorite part of the game is when all of the land has been settled, and then I start a great big war. In the game I'm playing now, when I got all of my territory filled up with railroads, I started building up my army. Then I started war with the strongest country (Maya), and formed a military alliance with Rome (the second strongest country). Then I started war with a couple others, and got a few more alliances. Now, everyone else is starting war with each other, and there are alliances between every country, and everyone that I'm not at war with is either polite or gracious towards me. This point of the game is very exciting!

What part/point of the game do you enjoy the most?

I like the time inbetween wars, where all you're really doing is building up your culture, a few military units here and there, and rebuilding you're newly conquered lands. (I may play as a warmonger, but I'm a builder at heart. :D )

The expansion phase, usually. The part right after that comes in second.

I usually shoot straight for tanks on the tech chart so I usually get them a few turns before the AI. I guess the most enjoyable part of the game for me is usually when I rush a crap load of tanks (and a decent number of artillery), pick the strongest civ, sign mpps with everyone I can, and then run amuk all over their precious cities. There is nothing quite like watching a strong proud civilization get reduced to rubble in a matter of about 8 or 10 turns.

I love late industrial/modern age warfare. If nukes are included, all the better!
There's nothing like a brilliantly executed military campaign combined with a post-war economic boom to give you that fuzzy feeling of accomplishment inside. :king:

The best thing about tanks is that just a couple techs down the road you get mech infrantry. If you can get those before the enemy gets mech infantry, it's almost a joke.

the most fun part of the game is medieval period where everyone is mostly settled and wars are beginning, alliances are formed and great wonders being built and being able to build new units. this is really the point of the game that determines how you are going to win [or lose].

Right at the start, because so little is known about how the game may turn out and so anything goes basically.

The point right before you surprise launch 50+ ICBMs into the enemy civ. And the global warming that comes after it - I just wish global warming was more devestating (though not as bad as in Civ2, SWAMP ATTACK!)

I really like the industrial era, after infantry but before tanks. I like to fight WW1 type wars with lots of infantry and artillery, and the occasional obsolete cavalry beating its head againt them. Once tanks come in the game is pretty much over if I want it to be.

Yeah, for me my enjoyment of the game negatively correlates with how far into the game I am.

This is why Civ is so damn addictive! I always want to start a new game!

I like getting civ's to declare war on eachother and then rolling over them after they have fought themselv's to nothing.

For me it is the opening game when most of the screen is black. This is the crucial period as eveything you do good or bad is magnified throughout the entire game.

Hehe, it just so happens that I'm now at that point, I just got satellites researched, and I'm building lots of ICBM's, so I think I'm going to use my $32,500 to rush the building of them:). There are a lot of people at war right now, but it's a warlord game:(. If anyone would like to play, here's the save:

I enjoy the early phase of the game, particularly the landgrab phase; after that I do enjoy seeing my civilization grow in other ways too, especially technologically (I do get a thrill out of being in the tech lead). Once the game gets down to the nitty-gritty, I do enjoy seeing the biggest bully on the playground get destroyed by an underdog. :smug:

I never knew this was supposed to be fun. :)

Actually its when I'm alone for an afternoon; all my work is finished; I open a bottle of wine; roll a smoke; press that load button and dissapear into that map.

Specifically its getting Hoover Dam at Diety; victory seems a good possibility after that.
