What kind of army do we build?

Cav Army? Or Musket Army?

With a musket army, we can defend our cannons, and drive it (and a few other units) deep into Babylonian territory, drawing troops towards it. Although, we may very well mop up Babylon by the time it takes 3 steps.

It can substitute for 3 cavs, since it has blitz, but needs longer to heal. It will also give us the Military Academy quicker (and the Heroic Epic)

This is a no-brainer in Vanilla Civ3.

Can we first decide if we are going to build an army or not? Tao has made a good case for using Napoleon to rush a wonder. Do you mind if we vote on that, CT? Or would you rather we all step back and let you play this all your way?

I never said I didn't want a vote. It was a joking-remark on how many people were saying, "Army!".

Cavalry as a main force, but when Nationalism is hit I suggest making a more infantry-based army with large amounts of artillery using Cavalry as raiders against units or units in cities weaker than riflemen.
