I was playing a MP game with someone. Both of us want to pass the Great Scientist James Young. I got him first and I passed, then he's automatically granted that one. Is there a reason for this?

I was told that if I do not pass the GP at the beginning of the turn then it will be force fed to the next player. But in this case I did pass the GP at the beginning of the turn, but it's still automatically granted to the next player.

Spoiler Game_GreatPeople.csv shows :

Were you playing with just the two of you?

No it was an 9-player game and 6 are still alive (as you can see, there were Player 8 and Player 0 in the .csv file). We were just the first two who got enough GS points. However since it was competitive in classical and medieval era, the Industrial Era Great Person James Young already appear in the medieval era, costing 720 points (Quick speed). So after I pass it only costs 576 points and somehow it is force fed to him. Not sure if this information matters.

Also earlier in that game people are passing Hildegard of Bingen, and eventually it was given to the 2nd last player - he didn't have a choice to pass. But that time he wanted it and I thought it was probably the one before him not passing right at the beginning of the turn.

Is there any mechanism which makes the Great Person automatically granted when it is passed by the first one who got it? Like if the next player in line got too many GPP.
