Normally on most of the threads I go to I see somone say somthing IMO I don't want to get off topic on the thread so I don't ask but what does it mean? :confused:I'm stupid!:king:

This 'IMO' thing is the most useless waste of space on forums like these. I mean, if you are talking, of course your are voicing your opinion. In who else's opinion would you be voicing?

Redundant rubbish. Just say what you mean.

I believe it is a diplomatic and tactical effort that a person is trying to state that they realize their statement is an opinion and they are not forcing it upon you as a fact that you must accept.

So in that regard, IMO, it makes sense.

;)

What about IIFC or AFAIK? are those useless too?

Dr. K. Switching avatars again? WTH? I was just getting used to the other one. OTOH, this one is cool too. Is that movie referenced in your sig anything like Baraka. It seems to me that it is.

Back on topic. Has anyone ever tried in Civ3 to use the GL and a GS to rush build TOE for slingshot to US? Or in Civ4, do people prefer running, US, FS, and FR with a CE or using a SE with RM and OR to maximize GPP after gettting CoL and running CS too? :mischief:

I remember the first times I read posts that used the term IMO. I thought it meant something similar to: "yeah I am and *******, so what?" because it was usually posted right after a very annoying, blunt and overly biased statement/opinion.
Personally I am not a big fan of many unnecessary abbreviations or leet, since it often seems to result in a very broken and random form of English.

Acronyms are fine. They make it easier to write and read oft-repeated terms. I object to the term 'in my opinion'. It is almost always redundant. Almost.

In your opinion, of course :P

IMNSHO, IMO is just fine - tact is useful in certain situations.
AFAIK, it has been around so long that its use is fairly well entrenched and crying out against is is a waste of electrons.

When I went shopping they had a BOGOF on the cheese!

I agree 100 percent. And hope you realize my tongue was planted in cheek when I posted (the hint should have been the over the top passive voice.....).

:

Yes. It came before Baraka, and was shot by the same cinematographer. Click the link to find out more.

BTW, IIRC, and IMHO, its time to TTFN because WYSIWYG 4 EVA.

Wait till you start reading some of the strategy articles with GPP's and CSS's and who the heck is Monty?

I think they have an article with common acronyms on the Civ4 war academy home page.

In my days as an engineer I was often faced with problems which had no obvious solution other than the use of a GOK. This stood for "God only knows" ...
