What the heck is a MP?

In the Civ 3 editer when you make a government It lists MP and a number you cqan change what are thease MPs?

Military Police. under different governemnts "x" number of troops can be used to create 1 happy face, or something like that.

Military Police. They can be used to keep the peace, IOW prevent disorder.

Is this the same thing as unit support?

No. This is when a military in a city makes a citizen content. Unit support is when you get free support for units.
