Let's look at Russia in WWII -- again. I'm not talking about the partizans. I'm talking about the "volunteers" Stalin sent out to slow the German panzers approaching Moscow. They were armed with pitchforks, shovels, a few rifles with about 10 rounds of ammo, and the Molotov cocktail. They died in droves, but were effective in keeping the Germans from reaching Moscow until the Siberian reinforcements arrived to push the Germans back to Minsk.
