No, I’m not about to scream destroy them utterly (although that is a possibility), we need to consolidate what was Babylon and Russia into Fanatica first, but they are becoming a nuisance. India has Worker irrigating a mine on bonus grassland next to Vandopolis and a Swordsman just in our territory in the South, and whilst Germany isn’t intruding, one of our cities (City of the Damned) has flipped to them. So what do we do?

India has a ROP which should have expired with us, it can now be stopped without penalty and should be stopped immediately. With it the Indians only have to get on our rail network and could then attack one of our unprotected cities, they will also be able to change our improvements as they wish, and we won’t be able to stop them.

How do we then respond to future territory incursion and demands from these Civs?

At present we won’t even ask them to leave, and if they make demands of us we will pay demands up to 40 gold, 2 gpt or Maps. We are far stronger and have a much greater production capability than both these countries put together, so why are we still giving in to them? If they do declare war we could just roll over them as we have Babylon and Russia! So what are our options?

Option 1: carry on as we are
Option 2: refuse all demands and ask/demand they leave
Option 3: wait until we’ve built up more culture in our new territory then start refusing demands and asking/demanding they leave

Or is there another approach we could take?

Unfortunately, AI workers won't leave if you ask them to (I tried it). I think it had to do with an exploit in the early versions of Civ3.

I say: cancel India ROP in the preturn.

In turn 1, ask the Indian workers to leave or declare war (this will likely be the alternative, because they are right next to Vandolopolis).

Do we need more preparation to attack? We have the rr network, we have 46 cav and some infantry for defense.

IMHO we should assimilate India (or Germany?) in the upcoming turnchat.

Like I said before, demanding that they leave *WON'T* remove the workers. I tried it before.

Like I said before: leave or declare war MAKES them leave or declare war. I tried it before.

RM: i fully agree with you.

And we can NOW cancel the ROP with India and NOW declare war to either India or Germany or both of them and since NOW they DON'T have military tradition we don't face cavalry yet. To arms!

Should we do a poll on whether to start with India or Germany or make it more interesting by attacking both at the same time?

We can take this whole continent if we want it, but if we're gonna do it...we betta do it soon!!!

The global strategic situation will become very interesting indeed if we suddenly become the possessors of a continent alone.

Think NAVY!!!

I agree that, if we do want to take the continent, we need to do it sooner than later. Right now, we have an AMAZING military advantage (cavs and infantry vs. spears and pikes, with some muskets).

My feeling for now is that we should stop giving in to them and whoever declares on us first when we demand they leave or refuse their demands gets it first. At least for the coming turnchat. The Indian ROP should have already expired (I was expecting it to come up for renegotiation so we could refuse it, but it didn't) so it will be cancelled in the preturn, as this ROP was only for our war with Babylon. Unfortunately I think India probably will leave if demanded, Germany if they trespass are far more likely to declare. Personally I feel it would be better to take out Germany first, before they get Cavalry (and later Panzers). India is weaker, more backward and less of a threat. Following this turnchat, if no one declares (their choice for war), then we can poll do we want to go to war (our choice for war). However, we have the advantage now, and the longer we leave it, the more likely we are to be facing Cavalry, so perhaps we shouldn’t even delay that long.

This does lead to considering the global situation, as long as we keep our one city there, the Egyptian/Greek continent has little to offer us. The Persian/Zulu/Aztec one has lots of luxuries. A foothold there to claim some of those and control the choke point between the two halves will be essential if we are to make gains over there. This of course will be largely influenced by the victory condition we go for, if we’re going for Conquest or Domination we need to decide that and go for it.

I say we flatten them both. We should go after the weaker one so we can build more units fast to attack India. Pretty soon the other Civs might start attacking on our continent..and if Persia gets hold part well...just prepare for war....
