In my current game on Monarch, I'm in charge of a huge continent while my only remaning rival is in charge of another. I am far ahead in science and production capacity, and I could destroy him with my eyelash, but I thought I might instead just hang around increasing my score. What counts, exaclty, for your score?

Units you have? Quality of units? Area held? Population? Happy population? Money in the bank? Culture?

And which of these has the largest impact on the score, something that someone who's just going for score should focus on?

The area encompassed by your borders is the main factor in determining score. Number of citizens, particularly happy ones is the second factor. Not much else matters directly.

If you want a higher score, you'll have to take the other guy out. That's just the way it works. The name of the game is Civilization but the only way to get a really high score is to kill everyone else as fast as you can. How civilized is that?
