Lord Zalzabad
Chieftain
I am a newbie here, but I could not resist telling the tale of my greatest comeback. I had been in a war on and off with the Zulus for many a generation, finaly fighting my way through the Zulu forces assulting my allies in Persia and capturing many of thier cities with my mighty Samurai, and they came begging for peace. Since I did not want the cities that I had taken, I gave them to Persia (a habit of mine, I don't like taking other peoples cities that much, I prefer peaceful victories. So, for the next few years, I sat back, developing the infrastructure within my empire, when a message popped up proclaming that the Russian Empire had fallen. This was a shock to me, and I traded the Persians for thier map of the region. India layed to the north of me, and to the north of that layed Russia, or what was left of it. It was divided between the Zulu's, the English, the Indians, and the Babylonians. This seemed to be trouble to me, so I decided to wage a limited objective war to limit the power of India to my north. However, my Samurai got a shock when they faced up against Riflemen, and I got an even bigger shock when I discovered a mutual protection pact with Babylon, Zululand, and England. My allies consisted of Persia, and Germany, alone on an Island far away. I immediately asked Persia to assist me in this crusade to rid the world of what I believed to be inferior powers, and they agreeded. But to my dismay, Zulu Tanks were storming over the Persian Border, and the poor nation was on its knees. They proclamed peace with the Zulu, and delared war apon me! Seeing that they were on the loosing side, Germany cancelled our mutual Protection Pact as (I stole nationalism of my enemies) and I faced an enemy attack comming from both the North and the West. My fronteer forces were poorly defended with obsilete troops, as many of the important troops were predeployed deep within enemy territory, and fronter town after fronter town fell to the mighty jugganaught of the enemy.
Finally, I gathered all the offensive troops I could muster at the city of Edo, and lauched a pre-emptive attack on the enemies that were enclosing fast on my capital. Victory on that day was mine. The game ended (with boredom, mainly) with my advanced Armour making raids on the far off Engilsh Cities, with the Zulu and English capitals flattened by Nuclear missiles. The enemy Jugganaugt was smashed, and victory was mine.
This is a true story, and was one of my early games of Civ. (and for anyone interested, I have written a story loosely based on these events at the Apolyton forums, Yuki's Tale)
