One of the most funny tactics i used:
When you are losing the game you can either quit, hit back with everything you got or ...
The best go for Global warming. And so make it a kind of a gamble. When you are lucky your opponents will lose a lot of land by flooding or go hungry cause of strange soil arrising (like desert). I have used it a couple of times and was always a lot of fun, altough you are not much loved for it !!!
But who cares !!!

1.The other players will immediately ban together and bye bye for you.

2.You will not be invited to play with that group again.

It stands for "Polute The World Until Your Enemy Can't Live Any More And You Run Over His Dead Bodies"

Anyway since I'm losing the edge I can't afford to slack off on production in favor or limiting polution so Global Warming will take is toll and I will rise from the ashes!!! GGGRRRRR!!!!!

Its got nothing to do with being chicken.It has to so with sportmanship.The players I play with are sportsman.Your group is different.

i want a game with you guys. my games never go further then industrialization. i have never reached mobile warfar in an MP game. Or do you guys get the rediculous polution by playing a 10 times production game instead of normal production?

Its a real problem in 2x producton games after Industrialization.I have had small cities producing 10-15 sheilds(big deal) produce 10+ pollution sheilds.
Its takes a huge amount of pollution to actually get global warming in a MP game for some reason.Much more than regular games.

Don't worry.Games lasting that long are rare.As you know.

So how to most MP games end ? In single player, the computer will play on with only a couple of feeble cities left but will people do that ? Dont they just quit when there is no chance to win ?

IMO in a multiplayergame no-one ever wins, because when one player starts beating the crap out of the other and wins, the game is rarely continued, so in most cases: the computer wins!

When you can't win - lose!!!

What is the point in making life difficult for the other human player?? If your losing/dead then there is nothing more to do than ponder over what you did wrong and do it better the next time - because there will always be a next time.

I'll admit it does add another dynamic to the game.A couple times it was great fun organizing a world wide clean up effort for unintentional pollution.

It takes a huge amount of pollution to cause warming in MP games.I've seen upwards of 70 polluted tiles and no warming occured.Got lots of scientist warnings but it never actually happened.

If I know that i'm losing in a Multi-player game I will always resign, Because I'm wasting my time playing a game that I've lost, and I'd rathre get right to the next game, A game that I will probably win. I've only lost 2 in a row, once in my life..

OMG what a waster u are smash...of course when things are tragic for a human player HE must try to harm his 'enemies' as much as possible and so diminish the return of the spoils of war.

As for going for global warming their is time to react in a 'save the world campaign'. Plus the number of times a player will resort to this tactic are rare...but it would be one hell of a threat. Civ2 is all about being vile as you attack our civs for no reason other than those of jealousy and greed.
