Where are all the players?

1) What is PBEM?

2) Where are all the players? Gamespy has only 50 players online most of the time, and most are just chatting. Yet the myleague.com reports hundreds of games being played daily. I can't find any place where there are a lot of people who want to play multiplayer. Any suggestions?

1) PBEM = Play by Email, a type of MultiPlayer where you play your turn, and send it to your next opponent. They then send you the save of your next turn, and the cycle repeats.

2) The best place to set up a MP game is not in the lobby itself, but on a forum...then you can work out a timeslot and choose the opponent you play against. If you go to Gamespy, not all people who play MP talk in there. myleague.com uses a forum for most of its setup - or a gamespy chatroom.

Just search Civ3 PBEM or Civ3 Multiplayer in Google. There are lots of forums out there specifically for PBEMs and MP.

ok I went thru 2 pages of google, and I can't find any forums (except this one) with regular attendance...

If you look games in lobby you will see most are laddergames. In normal games which aren't played under ladder or haven't been preplanned in any forum usually gots quiter problem where players drop out if they got bad land etc. Ask about ladder in lobby if you want to find games fast. If you want to preplan game then use these forums
