Please post where you want the next city in the SE (public wants it) to be placed. I need an everyone to participate. It's for the future of Fanatika, afterall.
This would be time for 40j's gridded map . I beleve that having a settler settling there is ok, as long as there is a spearmen to be built to escourt the settler and defend the city once the settler settles. Due because of the War with the Aztecs comming. My conners is the loss of the Settler or the city once the settler has settled.
as that will (and i dont mean probably, i mean will) fall into bohemias borders, i feel i should contribute to this. i like that placement, it provides the city with lots of growth opportunity and extends our borders toward the landbridge. tell me when you plan to send the settler, and i will work a spearman in somewhere.
I agree. I know that the AI also has some sort of ESP. I was once playing a game where I had a few units blocking off a choke point t\to prevent the AI from using the RoP to settle. When I moved the units to upgrade them, the AI's settlers started heading through my land. When the troops were replaced, the settlers turned back. All this when there was no way they could have seen the units there.
They will know if there's a garrison there or not, and it's size.
I am submitting this map to show where I believe we should place our next three cities. They are not in the SE (well one is), but they will enable us to expand QUICKLY in the direction we as a nation have chosen to move.
City #1 is 4 moves to the SW of Valhalla. Placing a city here will give us a settler factory QUICKLY, as soon as we get it fortified, we can start building settlers to head to the SE. City #2 is perfectly placed to fit in with the other cities. Not only will it be able to use the Game tile, but it will also give us our #! desired resource in this area - HORSES. we need horses and this city will supply us with them (this is a back-up as we might have to auto-raze Tlaxcala). City #3 is perfectly placed to fit in with our existing cities in the area and when it does expand, it will have the gold within its borders. With this three cities established QUICKLY we will be able to populate the country-side at a much better rate, plus have a city to still build military units, plus have a city that will be able to concentrate on a Wonder. If we start sending settlers out to the SE immediately, it will take forever to get them there and they will have little protection. Anyway, here's the map.
HA! I just realized, after looking at 40j's map that I mistook those cattle for horses (no wonder they're moving so slow). So that would seriously slashes my reason for City #2. But with cattle on one side and game on the other, it would still make for a good city site.
Cyc- we have many settlers coimng up (Octavium, then Penguin) We could have Oct at One and Pen at Two (note- zarn handed over domestic yo me, so yes my name IS bupmed higher)
Also- I dislike 3. To barren....
Plexus, while I do agree that option 2 is an excellent spot, we would have to send an army along with it, since we are soon to be at war with the aztecs.
I still don't like the distances of the cities... Do you know how long it will take our settlers to get there? We need roads, and more workers, too, in order to speed up the process. I'm going to make my own map...
