I picked America in the poll because it was the first one I chose even though my very first game was random/Aztec. I figure that wasn't really in keeping with the spirit of the question.
I chose America after I got accustomed to the new system a little because America, **** yeah!.
Played Russia, with the intention of playing China (my usual favourite Civ) shortly afterwards.
Big mistake.
Russia is the Shoshone of Civ VI, and their tundra bonus + Dance of the Aurora makes them damned strong if you get the right beliefs. It will be hard to move back to civ that only start with six tiles.
I'd probably want to go back and play them again some other time. I didn't really make use out of any other England's uniques except for the museum theming.
Japan for me. They did not play as I expected. I thought the Adjacency bonus would dictate their playstyle much more significantly. Really it seems pretty minor and only really there to compensate for having no better options, not really something to plan around otherwise. I doubt I'll play much of them in future unless they make the adjacency bonus stronger, or if I know the map will have no better terrain for districts.
