Who did Civ Music?

Hello,

I know that there is an extract of Beethoven 9th symphony in the game but I can't remember which symphony the defeat music is extracted from. And who is the author?
Can anybody help me?

Well,
to be honest, I've heard it several days ago at the radio. Unfortunately I could just hear the speaker saying it was the 3rd symphony of somebody. Sounded like a german name.

the city celebration music is from Beethoven's 9th symphony, indeed

the civ defeat music is called "Trauermarsch", as you can find it in every German copy of Civ2

I dunno who wrote it though

I've got the answer! It's also beethoven. Apparently, it's the 3rd symphony, 2nd movement and called Eroica, or something like that. Thanks a lot anyway
