We will be declaring war eventually to further our goal of Manifest Destiny. The timing of the agression will be up to the Military Department - as soon as they feel we are ready we will declare war. The question is who will we declare against as the first victim of our quest for emminent domain?

The Americans are the obvious choice. The domestic department feels that we should prepare for this by securing our border with them with a couple more cities, at which point, we will have several staging points for an attack when the miltary department feels we are ready. During this war, we will continue our expansion with settlers to the south and east, while we conquer American cities to the north. To initiate our preparation, I have offered the military department the oppurtunity to choose a new city site as a military training ground, that will build veteran immortals.

The domestic department wishes to delay this war until we have 4 or 5 more cities, as, when our people realize their true potential as the immortals begin crushing their opponents, I wish to have a larger population.

I must confess that I am not very familiar with our current situation (an obvious downside of not being allowed to donwload the game and have a look). Our best target is IMHO the civ with the most luxuries within it´s borders. Considering our awful starting position it could also be useful to attack a neighbour with good terrain. Since I don´t really know who meets these criterias I choose not to vote for any civ in particular. We should probably stay clear of the Romans, however. Their Legions will be dangerous to us. And we should also try to use diplomacy to our advantage. This mean creating alliances with other neighbours againt the one we attack, to avoid being backstabbed.

America because
-they have nice chunks of land (that we plan to settle)
-they are closing in to our dyes sources (yeah! they're ours)
-they're weak (no UU in the ancient area)
-there's something I'm forgetting :D
I say kill them!!! :ninja:

America because theire land look VERY interesting, and i just love killing the american.:)

That's what I forgot about! :D

Now seriouly. Even though I agree we should aim the Americans, it'll take some time before we take any actions because I don't think we have the ability to expand and attack at the same time, at least at this point of the game.

Edit: On the other hand, if we attack the Americans, we will be expanding and attacking at the same time. We might consider military actions in the near future. The only problem is that this would stop our expansion plans to the south.
I have faith that the Military department and the Phoenaticans will take a balanced decision in the end.

hahaha, funny badluck. take that bomb off your back and get out of that coffee shop...

seriously, the DOC will support military aggression against the yanks to the north. by attacking north and sweeping in a clock-wise movement, we can apparently clear this end of the continent. in doing so, we will be able to face any other aggresor, while having no one at our back. this will enable us to move in basically one direction if we chose to continue with the manifest destiny theory.

Go for america. Cause there is NO good reason not to blow up yankees into little itty bitty bits. Of course, we could wait till modern age, and introduce them to our new toys.:nuke:

What about not attacking at all? At least not for now?

I think that option should be in the poll.

I agree it may be abit early to attack but when the time comes America should feel our wrath. They are closer and have better land.

Rome is far and in the hills. Unless we can defeat them before they have access to iron we might as well wait.

I abstained, but I agree we should aim for the Americans. We could start gearing up for them, but at the same time, leave the final decision for when we have enough military forces to actually attack someone.

You're allowed to download it and have a look. You're just not allowed to play through the game.

The people already decided on an early policy of Manifest Destiny so that's our official Foreign Policy for now. Feel free to post an anti-war sentiment on the Department of Foreign Affairs thread. When it looks like peace is becoming a popular option I'll poll for a new policy.

I think the sooner we take out the weaker civs, it is better or else they can be a nuisance to us in the later days:sniper:

We shld attack and conquer whoseever's lands which can be productive (i.e. less corruption) for us in later days.

The military shld make preparations from now on for a war of conquest, in addition to normal expansion (which is a must).

Phil votes for a war vs America.

Will this be a total conquest of their lands or simply an attempt to take some attractive-looking cities before asking for peace?

And, er...does the Military Department have a back-up plan if a war doesn't go in our favour? Not that I don't have total faith in our leadership or anything. Ho hum.
