Why can't I get this game to work consistently?

Some days this game works well I've played up to 1100 AD on a Huge map and other days I can't get more than a turn completed before I get a hard freeze. I have updated all the drivers I can think of, have the newest nVididia driver, reinstalled today with the most current patch and I can't get it to do anything today. I really appreciate all the help that people on the site have given and will continue to give. I know without them I'd have run this game through a shredder. Thanks,

I have the same problem. I could last for several turns after 1900AD with huge map. Though I lower the display resolution to low, it still not work.

I can't get it to do anything anymore, one turn and I get a hard freeze. I reinstalled and updated it with the latest patch and can't get it to do anything. I've updated my video driver with nVidia's latest. I'm kinda frustrated and have no idea what to do next.

When you got the 6600gt, what Power supply did you upgrade to.

What was the original card you had?

I didn't change the power supply and my computer had an integrated power supply.

Your running a 6600gt on a 250 watt power supply.

the 12 volt rail is rated at 14 a

the card needs 15 a

If you have your old card, the one that came with the computer, put it back in with the proper driver and see for yourself.

Meant to say integrated video card. I'll have to look into changing the power supply, never considered it.
