Why do people say emporer instead of emperor?

Just cause of the way it sounds - some people say it Emporer, some say Emperor, pretty similar (although wrong). Occasionaly, I write Emporer, then realise it is wrong and correct myself. I had to look it up in the dictionary for clarification a few months ago

Alot of the time, non-native english speakers are more fluent (spelling wise) at the language than native speakers :)

Thx for the clarification.

From time to time if I read something that I think it might be wrong, I am confused, because I can't decide whether it is really wrong, or is some kind of joke...
