Why does the battle scenes run so slowly

I just started playing pirate a few days ago. The game generally runs very smooth on my system, no luck up, slow down or glitch. only when i am in a battle , it take forever to move 1 unit or turn a ship around. What is wrong with this?

Land battle is especially slow, it takes about 4 minute for my enemy to complete his move. To watch the troops move across the map is like watching Chinese Kungfu move with lots of slow motion.

You have hit upon one of the major complaints about the game.
Whoever programmed Land Battle movement will be changing his professional name.

The movement coefficients were changed in the infamous patch. They still move the same strange way, they just to it much faster now.

Turning a ship is fast if you have the correct ship, war canoe, or extremely tedius, any galleon.

Your video settings also cause similar slow-downs.

I have a Brig of War, it is still really slow. I can't belive it. The bomb goes through the air in slow motion, this is ridiculous.

So the patch will make battle scene faster?

have you tried reducing your video settings in the game?

how about

isslowmachine = 1

It is also very reasonable that your vid card is not up to the game.
It turns out that 95% of the game processing is Video.
If your Vid is lagging, a fast CPU makes little difference.

A P4 1.3 with a decent vid card can play the game in reasonable time when you set the Video options to lower/mid levels.

An Athalon 1.68(clock speed) with a much older vid card plays almost the same. (changing to a better Vid in this case made a drastic improvement)

No, my system is Athlon64 3500+, my video card is ATI X850 Pro with 256MB RAM. It is more than enough to run any game on the market effectively.
However, this Pirate game runs exactly the same on my older computer, Athlon 900 Mhz, with GeForce4 Ti 128 MB.
As a programmer myself, I would have to say the programming for battle scene sucks. Whoever wrote this deserve to get fired. Why, because the battle scene cannot be more complex than the game itself, in fact, it should have less variables to keep track of, it should run faster than the game itself.
The game is very simple, unlike complicated games like SimCity, this is evidental, as the game runs fine on my old Athlon 900 Mhz. The battle scene is either slow by design (I don't understand why) or it is extremely buggy. Companies should test their games before releasing.

The game itself, (not the battle scene) runs fine on my older athlon system with everything set to high.
