Why the drill nerf?

Compared to base FFH that is.

Were the defensive strikes really too powerful? Or are archery units balanced around having the ranged combat thing activated and would be too powerful with both that and drill?
 
I merged the Refined Defensive Strikes mechanic by Denev.

The ability to do defensive Strikes now depends on the general combat abilities of a unit. Drill promotions still improve a units ability to do defensive strikes, so does any other promotion that adds first strikes (like some spells, etc.)
 
Hrm, so does it just not show up on the tooltop? Drill IV currently not adding to displayed dstrike chance for my Longbows/Xbows.

EDIT: Oh ok looked it up, depends on attackers str too, so tooltip meaningless.

Defending unit cannot make defensive strikes + ceiling...ouch. Well I guess grigori xbows being capable of defeating SoD's of hundreds of units singlehandedly was a little ridiculous.
