I am in the market for a new laptop. I am considering getting a Dell D630 rather than a "gaming laptop" (almost an oxymoron, even these days), primarily for serious tasks, but I'd also like to run Civilization IV. I am aware of the system requirements, but I am curious if this game will run well on 1440x900 resolution, at a decent frame rate with a dedicated graphics card that is not high-end. I have not ordered it yet, so I am willing to reconsider if this game is guaranteed to be problematic.
Here are the relevant specs:
2.4-2.5GHz Core 2 Duo
2GB-4GB RAM
nvidia Quadro 135M (I am told it is a slightly weaker 8400GS)
14.1" display WXGA+ res (1440x900)
I am sure the rest of the specs are well up to the task -- but can the 135M handle the game well at WXGA+? Any experience with a 130M-140M or an 8400M G/GS or equivalent would be appreciated.
