Will there be SMAC2?

This in in the wrong place methinks.
However, there is no talk of a SMAC 2 yet, though there are a certain number of fans clamouring for a sequel. I'd take that with a grain of salt, however, as there have been people clamouring for a Colonization 2 for ages, and there still isn't any evidence that they intend to do it. That being said, I would like to see both, but a Colonization 2 first, cause I can't really think of much to improve in SMAC, but Colonization would be incredible with the new tech and some of Firaxis's new ideas.

The other issue with SMAC is that on my box it says Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri a Brian Reynolds design. Brian (and in fact most of the team that made SMAC) have left Firaxis. Last I talked with them they were not interested in making another turn based game ever (but, who knows, people change). Having said that, Firaxis owns the rights and can make it without him if they want to.
