Windows 10 Leaf is Shutting Down my Game

So basically I'm stuck on 1561 AD, and whenever I try to load up the next turn, the game automatically gets shut down.

I've tried this at least a dozen times to know that it's happening every time, and the last half dozen times or so I've noticed a little green leaf that appears on my task manager. After a bit of googling I found out that this is supposed to shut down certain programmes in the interests of maximising performance or something?

Anyway, obviously I'm sure this must be a glitch since there's no reason why this one particular turn should be screwing me over so much. All I need is some way to override it.

So yeah, little green leaf, apparently part of a power-saving feature on windows 10, automatically shuts down my game at this particular turn.

Go into Settings, Power and Sleep and there is a setting called performance and energy, set it to best performance. If you are on a laptop turn off battery saver as well as checking the performance and energy setting.

One slight issue: my computer only has one pre-set power option. Apparently this is quite a common issue, where the only option is power balance. It does give me the option to create my own custom plan, but I'm not sure what steps would be necessary in creating my own custom plan to ensure the game runs smoothly.

Image of the issue in action: there's the green leaf, and 1 second after this my game shut down.

I should add in addition that this is happening consistently on every game, always at some random turn, which I then end up being completely unable to get past.
