...why not Colonization II? I think Colonization was one of the most original games of its time. Why no remake? Surely it would attract as much interest as another iteration of Civ.
The only good remake I know out there is freecol.
It is much better than the original, and 0.7.2 is playable by all standards, and far more understandable than the original.
They claim they will eventually do freecol 2, with their own ideas already in place.
Very cool, I really liked Colonization. IIRC a reason for not making Colonization 2 is because of sensitivities regarding America and it's indigenous population and what happens in Colonization (attacking, enslaving, etc).
EDIT: Were the graphics really that bad (no offence to the makers it's very excellent) in Colonization?
IMO, for the year it was done in, no. That are not that bad. I feel the graphics are better in col than what was in civ 1
(and still playing this title ). In a good game right now where I have a 2 city Arawak buffer betweem myself and the 17 Aztec cities on the map. English and French are on the other side of a choke point and the Spanish started on a small island and have not been able to advance. also, etc...........
Who says they're not remaking it. The new pc gamer issue will be announcing it if I'm not mistaken (or at least announce something related.) Proof: most sites have the announcement censored (Crysis Warhead is the main feature.) But the Crysis website does not have it censored...
