Wonder animations stop my games sometimes

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me. Civ 4 is wonderfull but when your program stops when a wonder is build after hours of playing it's starts to be irritating.

Problem: The game works good. Problems starts when I build wonders. When the wonder is build and the animation starts the program stops. The screen of the animation stays empthy. Some of the wonders work very good. Randomly they seem to stop my game.

What did I try:

1. I defragmenteded my hard disck.
2. Reinstalled the game
3. Try to restart the game, and try some years back in history. Comming to the building of the wonder the same problem apears.
   1. 
      Reinstallation of Direct X 9c makes no difference. The problem stays.
   
   Who can help this Civ fan?

After I installed 1.52, I had a very similar Problem. My PBEM-game locks when i should get an Era Movie. I get a window, which shows only "showEraMovie" and i cannot close that window. So i can not play or end my turn.

I tried different values in civilizationiv.ini (ShowTechSplash, NoMovies), but i can't convince the game to move forward.

With 1.09 I had no problems with this movies.

Trying to load my savegame with 1.09, but 1.52 savegames (v102) could not load with 1.09 (savegame v101)...

I attach a Screenshot, because its a PBEM game i painted the Techs white, and put the "showEraMovie" Screen on my capital.

Maybe someone can help me...

That is a line in the Ini file.

Change from 1 to 0 and it will stop the movies altogether.

The file is located in the main civ iv folder.

The line is about 2/3 rds of the way down.

Thanks for the tip.

When I changed this setting, it seems to have no effect, the error occurs again.

I asked the Player who sent me this savegame (it's a PBEM), maybe the settings in the savegame are effected to the ini-Settings of the player who sent me this game... Or is this nonsense?

It fixed my game for a little bit. Then these wierd black triangle things started appearing and moving with me and also my "warrior" disappeared into nothing but shadows.

I guess my problem is another than Snoboard's...

Very similar to my problem is the one that talks about "TechScreenSplash" here in this forum.

My bad wrong ini line.

It should be this one:

NoMovies = 0

Change the one listed earlier back.

Jok go to nvidia web site and get the newest driver they have.

Also before you load the new one nuke the old one with a driver cleaner.

They should provide one from their site.

your driver is dated 2003 btw.

How do you know the date of my driver?

I know, my driver should be updated, but up to today everything works fine, even with Civ IV.
But i don't think it's the solution either... In the german civforum we tried to load this game on 3 different PC's, everywhere the same problem.

I downloaded and installed it not ingame. Got the Patch from here: ftp://ftp.take2.de/patches/civ4_update_v152.exe

Yes, they are all there...

Yesterday I played a Single Player game in 1.52 from the beginning to 1000ad, and had no problems with the movies...

I guess the right forum for my problem is "Bug reports" and not here...

maybe its that cheat button thing messing with it.

If so it would appear to be a bug as opposed to a hardware software conflict like you suggested.

Well, the last turn I played with 1.09, the player who played before has installed 1.52.

The save from the turn before has loaded in 1.52 sucessfully...

I had another look at the readme for the 1.52 patch.

Now how is this for a definitve statement.

"Wonder Movies and other popups may appear in PBEM/Hotseat"

Umm.... May appear?
