Wonder animations stop my games sometimes

But I'm sure they should not appear in this way... ;)

At another posts here (i read something here) it's reported that similar errors occor with wonder movies or tech splash, i guess most of them are 1.09 save games causes the errors in 1.52...

With all the changes they made to the game it would be hard to think otherwise.

So what does this mean now? Everytime you try and get a multi player game going you have to make sure everyone has the same patch before joining?

I think for online multiplayer games, yes.

For PBEM's... a 1.52 save can not be loaded in 1.09 because of the savegame version. The last turn i tested to load loaded sucessfully...

Maybe the error occurs because we patched the savegames during a turn. I supposed to start the last turn again, all with patched Civ.

Thanks Neon Deon for your help.

We solved this problem by restarting the turn with patch 1.52. In the first try with the errors the last player in the turn patched the savegame from 1.09 to 1.52.

What we learn is, in a PBEM, the first player in a turn should use the patch first.

Before patch 1.52 I had the issue that would happen regularily to CTR (Crash to Reboot) :). As soon as a Wonder movie started I had a good chance of freezing the game or CTR. I had disabled the Wonder movies and sound until I had patched to 1.52 from 1.09.

I re-enabled the sound (another simlar issue) and the wonder movies and now I can play the game until almost modern ERA (sometimes longer) until CTR and once the machine reboots and I reload from last auto-save I can play the rest of the game.

This leads me to believe that there is a memory leak somewhere in cIV or in sound or video drivers. This is an assumption, but it's acting like one right now.

I have yet to try some ini settings changes I saw on this board (different discussion) last night or the concept of increasing the page file to 2GB of drive space, so I may have a solution shortly, but I just wanted to mention that the Wonder Movies causing the crashes is not unique to this particular poster having issues.
