Any ideas on wonders that should be in the game, or would be nice?

Like German Autobons, or Major League baseball with a coliseum in every city.

Wonder ideas for what? I think you left something out.

Why is everyone so simple?

Wonder Ideas for the RULES txt to add to the game.

Apart from their not being suitable to certain scenarios, where the timescale is reduced from that of the normal Civ game, what is wrong with the wonders that come with the game? Some people like to alter features of the wonders (most popular being that Leo's doesn't become obsolete with Automobile) but I think that to do this unbalances the game. Leo's is powerful enough already and doesn't need tinkering with. To make the game fairer then you may like to consider making wonders that you always leave the AI to build more powerful. Say making the Oracle give the civilisation that finishes it a free temple in all the cities and making it obsolete much later. Of course this would mean that you'd just go and build it rather than letting the AI so it might be unbalancing anyway but if your building the Oracle meant that the AI got Mike's maybe this isn't a bad thing.

Each scenario will require different wonders that the maker sees fit the different strategies he/she has in mind for each civ in the game. Wonders often become tactical objectives in war and the capture of one can change the whole direction of a campaign. When setting up the wonders in a scenario the designer should try to ensure that one side does not become too powerful at any point in the game unless this fits the overall plan. Unless it follows a historical precedent or the designer wants to give the player a test then to have all the wonders of a particular civ become obsolete at about the time that events give another civ a massive boost is going to make things unfair.

I know we have crossed swords before and don't want to stir anything up again but please don't call oryx simple. Your first post didn't make your context very clear and he was only trying to help by asking for more details of which scenario you had in mind.

Yeah. I thought that because the question was posed in the scenario creation forum that it would have something to do with scenarios, not the standard game. Silly me.

I do. Just post flat ideas, you don't have to break it down into complex little pieces.

I think 2 sentences that have 6 words or less is the definition of simple.

In short, I'd like to hear wonder ideas.

York, don't bother anymore. I read like 3 words before I recognized you had a long drawn out post.

People here are not simple. They either know what they are talking about or are humble enough to know otherwise. Now that the kid gloves are off...

Firstly there is no wonder which can allow a colloseum in every city. You haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about. Nobody wanted to point that out because folks in this forum are nice.

In general, there is practically no leeway to change the wonders within the framework of the original game. The closest thing is Michelangelo's Chapel which is a free cathedral in every city. It would be pretty silly to have major league baseball in the middle ages if you are using the standard game.

It's good to be succinct, but in your case, mayhem, I'd also recommend that, if you want to be perceived as anything other than incomprehensible, you be more precise.

Frankly, reading your posts, my response has been, "What IS this person talking about?

I freaking hate newbies who turn up and then start insulting long standing posters. Not only is it stupid and counter productive, but it's really, really rude.

Congratulations Mayhem, you're the first person on my ignore list. Have a nice life.

Honestly, let's not scare the newbie off. He made a mistake, that's all. We shouldn't lynch him for that... ;)

Microsoft, the Euro, IBM?

You know, willem, I think everyone but us have dropped this thread...

Ok...

Let's practice conditioning and guidance rather than execution. Although, I do like gillotines.

As far as the question of Wonders...hmmm...Kobayashi has a point...they can't be changed for the regular game really...so your kinda stuck just naming it to something that fits logically like instead of Michelangelo's Chapel, you might be able to call it "The Olympics". It seems like a stretch...but getting an embassy in every civ would represent some sort of international cooperation (I don't think the first Olympics was too international though).

I suppose you can turn off the wonder movies...

What about Kremlin(with monarchy)? Or possibly even Communist Manifesto (available with the advent of Communism)?
