Haven't played this game or been to this forum for a while. But I'm getting back into it. Its such a great game. Anyways...I've been thinking about it, how can i fight a mulit-front war and win, without just shooting my econemy. I found some of my old "notes" I made and I always put little side notes saying "econemy shot", or "you f*cked if you don't win". I'm good in batte, and PLANNING wars, but I need to know how to plan, attack, survive, win, and redo my econemy before during and after wars. I plan on playing with more nations now so...yeah...I can't take them all on at once and win, so i need to know how to keep going.

General - I play mainly in the ancient period and get extra gold mainly from huts and tribute (Marco's helps with that). I keep taxes low until I have the tech I need (eg monotheism or less) and then raise them to 70%. This provides enough gold for occasional bribes and rush-buys, but not a huge war-chest. I don't build many improvements, so there are little or no annual costs from that.

I don't often play past 1000AD, so maybe someone else can tell you how to handle that era. One simple idea is to adopt a Fundamentalist government + the happiness wonders + 80 percent taxes. But if you want any science with that, you'll need to trade.

Build the great wall, and later, the UN. This lets you fight only the wars you want.
