I am pleased to announce that CivFanatics will be represented by a team in the Worldmasters PBEM Diplomacy Tournament: http://www.cat23.com/wm02

So, after sharpening our skills stabbing each other for the better part of a year, we can now come together as a team and heap that damage sevenfold on the rest of the world!

The Players:

Austria - Flatlander Fox

England - Toasty

France - Mordhiem

Germany - Magnus

Italy - Richard III

Russia - Kitten OF Chaos

Turkey - Ambuel

Outstanding!

Now some suggestions on how we can make things run smoothly for all players, such as posting orders due dates, maps and such, that way our esteemed Captain can keep track of games and the like...

If each player just posts up a topic detailing the goings on in thier game, allowing others to chip in with suggestions etc., that should be suffice.

Good luck guys.

Be nice to read how things are going - without giving too much away of course.

We are upholding the web sites honour in front of the entire e-mail diplomacy playing community! Think of the exposure if we win! Billions, okay millions, would flood the site seeing how phenomonal a dip team they have, the civ part must be half-decent. Okay, so you'd need to uprgade the server to a special CIA grade connection, but you'd be elevated to god status amongst the community! Women will throw themselves at you in the street! Children will want autographs! The Inland Revenue will actually take the time to seriously investigate your tax returns!

Website says that signup has closed and that the boards list will be published on 2nd December.

I'm a little confused...I know, not unusual, but anyway....do we play eachother in the first round? Or, with the countries we prefeced do we play other people? I really should have more coffee.....

We all play against other players. I'll explain...

There are 73 teams, so there will be 73 boards going on. Each player on each board will be from another team, so in effect you will have 7 teams all competing against each other on each board. The 1st round games go to Autumn/Fall 1909 where the SC's are totalled up and points are allocated:

First - 32
Second - 16
Third - 8
Fourth - 4
Fifth - 2
Sixth - 1
Seventh - 0

The 28 teams with the highest combined score from all thier players advances to round 2, where a similar process using 28 boards is used to detirmine the semi-finalists.

I think we have a very good shot at making the second round and beyond... Most teams will have one or two folks who drop by the wayside, while if we stick together and stay active, we should be able to do very well.

Besides we have proven winners and survivors at almost all of our positions, which I doubt many of the other teams can claim.

Look, I've basically abandoned all of my hobbies, my spare time and my possessions to allow me to focus on this despite my personal homelessness issues. Is anything happening yet? Anything?

The list was supposed to be published yesterday, however it would seem they are shorthanded on GMs...

Good luck to all of you! As one of the dozen or so people who actually browse this forum, it would be nice for me if you could post something every now and then on how the games are going (when the competition actually starts...) Go forth and do CivFanatics proud! :goodjob:

Just realized that we are one-up on Poly now. They don't have any dip team to speak off .

Only the one up? ;)
