anyone else noticed WorldOfErebus acting funky when using low cohesion high sealevel or similar settings?

I think it's trying too hard to fit 50% of the civs on the same continent, which leads to bad results when no continent big enough is available. it overrides set minimum distance values and clumps them together like popcorn in a bowl.

anyone know of some way to keep it from doing that?

It seems ridiculous to revive such an old Thread... but I'd like tho second this.
A simple hint would do, I guess (python already at hand - but I'm kinda too stupid to find the correct lines) :(

well, the best solution is also the easiest, avoid using low cohesion high sealevel ( I like Medium cohesion low sealevel best )

if you head over to the master of mana forums, in the modmodding subsection you'll find a thread in which I've posted an edited version of this script which in my opinion works a lot better, if you go through my posts there you can see exactly what changed.

it was created with MoM in mind but it should work just fine with RifE, if you have any particular issues with it just ask and I'll see if I can cook up a couple RifE tweaks for you ( or just teach you how to edit it yourself, it's not hard - hey, I even learned to read and somewhat write python code thanx to that - all you need is notepad :D )

The mapscript itself is kinda awesome. The only thing that bothers me, is that all civs get clustered together on the biggest landmass :(
I'm eager to learn, how to fix that because besides this (imho gamebreaking) issue, the script is perfect.

what do you mean by clustered, like way too close together or...?

IIRC the script tries to place 50% of the total civs on the same ( main ) landmass before it starts considering other smaller continents for starting locations.

it seems like you're simply trying to cram in too many civs. what size, settings and number of civs are you using? I'd just use the default and add or remove 1 based on sealevel ( 8 civs with lowsealevel is good for standard size for example )

there's no easy way to change the starting plots are selected, what I did was tweak it so that warmongers are placed first ( so likely on the main continent ) while isolationists ( peaceful civs ) are placed last ( so likely on separate smaller continents )

it works pretty well, you can play a game as Doviello being sure you've got many neighbours to bash and a Elohim game with good chance of being alone on a builder paradise :D

Well, I'd actually like a BIG game with... ~25 Civs starting.
I know it sounds somewhat crazy, but 1. during the early game some Civs get conquered or barbwiped and 2. it's WORLD of Erebus, not "1/3 of Erebus".
