Worst starting location ever?

This is the worst starting location I have ever seen. Especially playing as the Aztecs!

Can anyone beat that?

That's not bad at all. Plop down a Lighthouse and Camp those Deer and you'll have a good cottage-spam city pretty quickly...

Heh, Gooblah, I agree that the capital isn't bad, but as the Aztecs I want to get out there and force my religion down somebody's throat, but there's a bloody mountain in the way!

But you can still get to the other areas of the continent via boat, so it is not that bad, different but not bad. at least you are no isolated by yourself. Now that is a bad thing to happen.

if you're on bts...build a fort on that desert spot to create a land bridge once you get the tech required or...settle a city there (I wouldnt)

I see he managed to spread to the mainland, though.

I'd be tempted to try one of those starts myself, especially if there are resources in the water. Beeline for ships and cross my fingers...

No, he never built another city. Kept that little Crete-esque existence going the whole game. Guess we all gotta try a new strategy once in awhile, but I would think even the AI would see a bad idea in the making....

R u kidding, u hav 2 deer and a handfull of plots to build and farm or two and a cottage. Not really a bad place. Build a lighthous and u'll have plenty of food in dat city.
