Hi all, first let me say thanks for all advice that i tried before actually posting here.

so, i've been trying to install the game {EDIT:BTS, 3.19} for 3 days now, the first time i tried i got a ton of xml errors which i managed to correct all (at least i think i did,none show now)

the errors were with allocation, and with missing files which i got from a friend whose game works.roundabout 10 xml files were missing. now all errors are gone (they would be shown at the init xml (cache) phase) and the game comes to the black screen with revolving earth in the middle part, and then just chrashes with no error report. if i try reinstalling i have to dig through which files i need to put back in, so i'd rather leave that as a later option. the problem now is that i have no reported errors so i don't know what to look at? any ideas or advice on that?

i'm working with windows 7, if any other specs are needed i'll supply.
{EDIT:so I've added the dxdiag text file, if anybody can make use of it, and there's a weird thing happening, when i try running warlords, the same thing happens, but when i try CIV4 i get a python error during startup (just before the init XML(cache) check), it says that python startup had failed (or sth like that)}

thanks in advance for the help, i'm really desperate to play this, been waiting for more than half a year because of an exam :)

cheers

EDIT2:i think i found some error log so i attached it as well.

you post quite a bit of info, but most basic things are missing..

Which civ4 did you buy? Is it the complete, original, or steam version?
Where there any errors displayed during install? Or did it seem to install ok, but in fact wasn't since it didn't even copy all the xml files..
Did you follow win-7 install guide posted here?
Post a quick summary of your system specs. Yeah i know it's probably in Dxdiag file, but it seems that nobody wants to bother drudging through that..

Welcome to the forums btw.

ergo, i have uninstalled everything and then formatted my disk (it was the only thing on it anyway :) ) and then reinstalled following the given details and using a different torrent download and that was it. have no idea what the error was anymore and happily don't care. just finished this half an hour ago and went back here to check, thanks for the help attempt anyway, it's really appreciated :)

enjoy!
