Your own custom diplo music

I replaced the OO music with the first seven seconds of [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXA-Qws-puc]. It's "A Shadow Coming Closer" from Shadow of the Colossus. I just find the bit from "Desert Rose" too obnoxious.

Once I was so annoyed at Kandros because he appeared in just about every game I played and he is such a Monty, so I replaced his music with the dwarf music from Secret of Mana [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biaFj0S1jcs]. Then for fun I replaced the rest of the civs with SoM music, and a lot of them fit really well. I soon missed the original music though. It's all very perfect.

I have a large collection of music from video games (albeit much of it too distinctive in sound, or too retro to fit), and the general aural aesthetic of FfH is not to my personal taste. So I've been busy.

Amurites: Welcome to Rapture, from Bioshock. Something about it has a certain magical sound.

Calabim: Door of Holy Spirits, from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. That their theme would come from Castlevania was basically written in stone, it was a matter of choosing the right one.

Clan of Embers: Abandoned Pit, also of SotN. I like the balance between the civilized and the primal for the Clan.

Infernals: Curse Zone, again of SotN. (Sensing a pattern?) I think it speaks for itself. Do not listen to during dark nights in creepy rooms.

Khazad: Valley of the Fallen Star, of Final Fantasy VII because... well, it just fits, somehow.

Kuriotates: Lazy Afternoons, from Kingdom Hearts II. Really, the KH soundtracks mostly mix with Erebus like water and oil tar demons, but for Cardith Lorda, I figured an exception was in order.

Luchiurp: Modron Cube, from the Planescape: Torment soundtrack. It's got a good, light-hearted tinkering sound, but still works in the dark world of Erebus.

Malakim: City of Jerusalem, from Assassin's Creed. It's got a good, religious-leader vibe, and fits with both the feel of Erebus and Varn Gosam in general.

Mercurians: Lost Painting, again from Symphony of the Night, though they very briefly had J-E-N-O-V-A from FFVII. I can offer no rational explanation, simply that it seemed to "fit".

Sheaim: They've really bounced around in diplo music. I started with Those Chosen by Planet, from Final Fantasy VII, but after a while, it struck me as too distinctive a tune for them. I switched them to Planescape: Torment's Fortress of Regrets for a brief period, but that was even more distinctive, with its heavy use of the Nameless One's leitmotif, so I toyed with the Fortress of Regret's battle theme instead. But while the general sound of Torment fits, the battle theme proved too aggressive for what is a (very unconventional) builder civ, so they're presently on Ignus' Theme.

As for the rest: the Hippus, Illians, and Lanun remain untouched. For all others, I can't actually recall the source; typically they were picked up from elsewhere in the FfH mod, these forums, or the Warhammer mod... or I've just plain forgotten, and might edit them in later.

Does anyone remember those "alternate" diplo soundtracks someone had posted here, about a year ago (maybe more)
I liked some of them, but I sort of forgot them, and they've been deleated from my computer since

I really like your selection, KillerClowns. I don't know how I didn't see how much Curse Zone fits with the Infernals. It really creep me out when I played SOTN as a teenager :D

Here, an analysis of mines:

The Bannor one is "Godric's Theme" from Heroes of Might and Magic V, the normal Heaven theme would fit as well (specially the part at 1:22, it's so epic), but Godric's theme is a fast reprise, short enough not to become a long diplo music. It has the knightly, light crusader tone that fits the Bannor.

For the Baseraphs, Kefka's theme, tough an orchestrated version, the original is much more... chaotic and pompous, and while it would fit Perpentach's regal madness entirely, it wouldn't with the rest of the Balseraph troupe :D The orchestrated one has a more clownish undertone to it.

And for Calabim, Dance of Illusions, the own theme of Lord Dracula in many Castlevania games, now, I'm using a different version, more dark and aristocratic, this one.

And some new ones, including some for mod mod civs:

Sheaim: Kuja's theme, with this one, I always get the feeling of Os-Gabella, playing a piano alone herself, while in the outside, her apocalyptic cohort destroys the world.

Mechanos: The Troops March on, I don't know, but I get a feel of musketeer columns, steam tanks and cannons marching purging all this puny "magic" and "gods" when I hear it.

I do remember it. I actually got one good song for Perpentach "All is in your head" from some kind of group called "Banquet of Illusions", it served as my Balseraph theme until I rediscovered FFVI and saw how much Kefka and Perp have in common :D. But that theme was good indeed, had a regal and clownish tone to it.

Sheaim:Those chosen by the planet(FF7) then Ra-the Sun God(Stargate movie)
Kuriotates:One winged angel(FF7),though I imght give One-winged angel to Bassy

I've never played SoM, but that's a really awesome song. I tried to imagine what Kandros' reaction would be if he was real and that music started playing instead of the normal music. I ended up bursting out laughing from it.

Rihanna Rhoanna should sing, "You can stand under my umbrella, ella, ella."

(Oh come on! Don't tell me it didn't cross your mind!)

Do I have to add some files in order for additional music to be played? I tried putting a song into assets/sounds/soundtrack, but it's not being played.
Not diplomatic musik, just the one that's played during normal gameplay.

You need to add it into the audioinfos for the game to recognize it and edit the erainfos to allow it to play in any era you want it to.

Stoik: what did you use for Jonas Endain back in the day? it's not the same as now, and I really liked that one. it started off sort of "primitive" sounding, than went on to more "civlized"

Hmmm, it was a long time ago (1 year), and I'm not sure to remember...I've made so many changes...
And I didn't found something like that in my PC...sorry
