I was browsing a favorite web site of mine (for Guild Wars mission inf0z) when suddenly a different page came up.
It was just a picture of a lightning-bolt sort of critter, with a mean snarl and one red eye and one green eye; the text "You've found a hook! Please tell your system administrator"; and a link "Click here to return to the previous page".
Now, call me paranoid, but whenever I see anything REMOTELY unfamiliar, I click absolutely nothing, and I shut off the damn browser.
Is this "you've found a hook" thing a legit page (i.e. "the web site messed up, try again later")? I did some searches for "hook" "spyware" "malicious" and the like, and didn't come up with anything.
