Will diplomacy be fixed with the expansion?

Yea I am not really comfortable with some of the ways diplomacy seems to work. For one, there are unnecessary penalties for defeating an enemy. It should be more complex than it is. If I am playing isolationist-mind-my-own-business and a nation declares war on me and I wind up capturing his...

    "No Beelines" strategy

Do you guys feel these rules really change the way you play? I find most of my games I end up progressing fairly evenly through the tech tree. The game forces you to do so with really hard chokepoints at various parts of the tree. At the most I'm maybe a couple of "levels" down one tech path...

A Problem has caused the program to stop working

Dear internet, please help. I have a custom built computer that I use to play civ 5. I bought the game and have been enjoying without problems since its release. Recently, however, the game has given me an error every time I try to start it up. The error occurs during the intro screen roughly...

    Infinite business wisdom

I don't see a concerning problem. If 2k is foolish enough to give up their influential platform in strategy games and abandon all of the accumulated game-developing knowledge they have acquired over the years in order to follow the scent of grass-is-greener-more-money-in-fps, then fine. This...

Linking culture to cities is counterintuitive

I don't like how the acquisition of new cities actually has potential to be a BAD thing in civ 5 because it decreases the amount of social policies you can get. It makes for strange and counterintuitive play where even in large maps expansion beyond 2-4 cities isn't optimal. It also leads to...

    Great People improvements still worthless

A settled great person is only as good as the difference between its tile and a regular tile. So while the merchant makes a 4 commerce tile its really only 3 commerce (2 post economics) because you could have built a trading post there instead. Also, when I do settle (which is rare) I'm...

155 things you didn't know until Civ5 taught you

    156. Ancient cavemen couldn't see horses until they learned animal husbandry.

    Civilization 5 and Steam(works)

I'm in the boat of buying civ but don't like Steam. I don't have any technical issues or compatibility issues...after all, Valve has monetary reasons to make things easy. But I had Steam a while back for Tf2 and my experience was poor. It's just another program your PC has to load at startup...

    Best Spiritual Leader

I'm for Justinian. I really like everything about him except the starting techs. Cataphracts make medieval war possible and the UB gives tons of happiness! Plus imperialistic is nice ^^

    Worst wonder?

I can't believe people voted for Angkor Wat. It's one of my favorite wonders. It's on the way to lib and makes it really easy to farm a guaranteed GPP for holy shrines.

Want to consult my first ever Emperor game

Hey =) I've been having moderate success on emp lately. If I were you, I'd get two cities north ASAP--the corn/gem coast city for blocking, a nice resource, and good commerce, and the copper city just north of your capital. I'd probably settle 1S of the copper. It looks like a good production...

    Early Game Help - Toku/Monarch

It's far away but that gold will sustain you for a long time. You'll need lots of workers, you may even consider getting sailing--if not for TGL then for trade routes without roading through a dozen squares of forest.

    Easy Starters

I like Louis for a strong early game leader. Creative, obviously, but also very adaptable-- he can grab an early wonder strat with industrious, and his starting techs are quite nice for getting quick pottery (which I like)
